Has Madonna gone Gossip Girl and purchased a new home on the Upper East Side?
The New York Post is reporting that Madge has signed a contract to buy a four-story, Georgian-style townhouse on East 81st Street (seen here) for about $40 million (what recession?!).
Sources say that the mansion is very over priced and that no residence in that area "has ever sold for $20 million, let alone $30 million -- or ever will again," said one broker who asked not to be identified.
Another issue with the pad is that the nearby Lexington subway line apparently makes itself heard as it rumbles underground.
BUT, $40 mil will get you something in this town. The double-wide mansion does boast 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, a two-car garage, a 3,000-square- foot garden, nine fireplaces, an elevator and a wine cellar with a grotto. A grotto...sexy time!
It's nice to know in these tough times that Madonna won't have to take the stairs to her wine cellar, that would be inhuman!
Can't stand the woman. Wish her and Donald Trump WOULD GO AWAY!! She's from Detroit isn't she? Don't they have nice places in Detroit? Guess he wants Lourdes to be near her Dad, but she sure doesn't care about Guy, because look how far he is from his boys. Madonna just creeps me out!
There is only four of them, yes? Why something so large for just four -- maybe one day five? The woman buys for 'show', not for comfort.
She's working her ass off and thanks to that she made 185 million last year alone...
She's building a school in Malawi, she's trying to give a little girl a better place then the orphanage...
She's eating healthy and is taking care of her body...

Is she going to adopt more kids to fill all the rooms? I think she is kind of weird and bizarre.
I've never understood why people hate her.....you may not be a fan of her music or films...but live and let live.
She's earned her money and been a shrewd business woman......like all of us...she has the rite to spend it on whatever she wants.
I wish more celebs would spend their money on doing some good...however small or large or whether privately or publicly.
